Surviving Scammers

A Message Of Support from Dee Maddox-Hinton

Fraud and scamming is something a growing number of people are experiencing and I want to reassure anyone who has fallen victim to these crimes that you are not alone; counselling can provide mental and emotional support to help you recover.

Research shows that in 2024, 1 in 7 (15%) of consumers surveyed said they lost cash to criminals in 2024 – up from 10% in 2023. The average loss per victim was £1,400, with only 18% recovering all their money. In addition to the financial harm caused by a scam, 53% of victims felt a strong emotional response too. Sadly, 71% of victims still did not report the crime – suggesting they may have been ashamed to do so,blamed themselves or faced other barriers to reporting.*

I have recently completed CPD in this area, including an in depth study of "The Psychology of Fraud, Persuasion and Scam Techniques" by Martina Dove, PhD, who is a fraud and scam expert.

Please don't let embarrassment deter you from seeking treatment, anyone can fall victim to fraud and scams. Get in touch today and get the support you deserve.
